Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ’s)
Below we have answered the top 5 questions that we are asked regularly. If this does not answer your question, you can use our contact form, or email us at firstname.lastname@example.org, or phone us on 0474 800 997 (ask for Mark)
What light fittings do you replace?
We replace all old highbay lights (generally 400watt mercury vapour or metal halide – commonly known as HID or High Intensity Discharge) with high-efficiency Australian designed LED Highbays. These are usually 100watt or 120watt (depending on mounting height) but we also have 150watt, 200watt and larger.
We replace the old T8 or T12 fluoro tubes with new LED tubes. These generally only use 1/3 of the power of the old tubes and last a lot longer.
We also replace low voltage recessed downlights with LED downlights. LV Downlights (or Dichroic downlights) became very popular about 15-20 years ago because of their size. But what most people don’t realise is that a 50watt LV downlight uses exactly that – 50watts of power. Yes they are 12 volt – but you pay per watt. Our LED downlights use as little as 1/5 of the power of these LV downlights, and of course last many times longer.
How much do you charge?
How much you pay depends on a few factors, but generally the upgrades are done at no cost to you. 98% of our customers (in Victoria) have had their upgrades installed at no cost to them, and they are now saving up to 80% off their electric lighting power bill. The activity being performed at your premises also determines how much rebate we receive from the VEET Scheme and we use that as full or part payment for supply and install. We always complete a full onsite assessment and proposal for you so you know exactly what is included. Schemes like VEET (www.veet.vic.gov.au) are targeted at reducing power loads as much as possible, so if you are looking to replace your old 400w highbay lights with 200watt LED highbays for example, there would be a cost because 100watt or 120watt lights would give the same or more light as your existing ones. We will always give you the best options so that you are happy with the end result.
Who installs the new lighting?
Highbay Exchange is part of the Ace Trades Contracting group. Ace Electrical is also part of this group, and they do the installs. They are ‘A’ Grade registered and fully insured electricians. Ace Electrical give a lifetime warranty on workmanship so you can be confident of a job well done.
What is the VEET Scheme?
